Prepare to Attend the HA Conference

BOOK SALE!

As we explained last month, the HA Board has decided that one way to put HA in a better financial position would be to discontinue selling all books and materials others than those we produce ourselves. The cost of housing other books is a problem in our present financial state. Most people are ordering books online, and online stores can offer the books at a lower price than we can without losing money because they can buy in larger quantities at a lower price.

So last month we offered these books on sale at 30% off. We now offer them at 50% off the retail price. You are not likely to see this kind of savings again so order quickly because this sale is on a first-come-first-served basis. When a book is sold out, that’s it!

Please order quickly as we would hate to disappoint you. Look over the enclosed sale list, write down the books you want to order, deduct 50%, add the postage and handling, and send the order to us. If you live in Pennsylvania, please don’t forget the sales tax (6%).

If the book you order has been sold out, we will, of course, refund the amount you sent us for the book, for postage and handling, and for any sales tax (since there was no sale).

Here is a real chance to further your recovery. Bibliotherapy (learning about how to recover from reading helpful books) is the least expensive therapy you can find. So order, read, get better, and enjoy!

Laid to Rest

Several years ago I was asked to take part in a panel discussion about recovery from homosexuality. I, of course, appeared only in shadow in accordance with the HA policy of anonymity. Three of the panelists were in favor of recovery; three others were opposed. It was a very interesting time, to say the least!

After the discussion, time was allowed for comments or questions from the audience. One man said to me, “I am a born-again Christian. While I admire what you are trying to do, I’m afraid you will do yourself severe psychological damage in the attempt.”

“It’s one of those days. Too tired and discouraged to tackle another obstacle, I sulk in my self-pity. I wallow in my perceived loneliness. I wrap my arms around myself and hide from a world that’s out there.
