Regarding David E

David E. resigned on February 29, 2008, as HA’s Service Coordinator because, after much effort, he decided it was not the job for him. He felt he did not have some of the gifts that were needed for this work and that made him unhappy.

Please understand, David has not returned to homosexual behavior nor does he wish to. He had enough experience in the “gay” life to know it doesn’t work. He simply decided that he was much happier in the job he had before coming to work for HA. Believe me, no one knows better than I do how tough this job can be at times.
David was not asked to leave nor did we wish him to leave. He tried hard while he was here and we thank God for him and for his gifts. We wish him the very best and ask you to keep him in your prayers.

Meanwhile, the work goes on and the needs are still pressing. John J. has agreed to fill in part time as a volunteer without salary. Linda L. and Darryl M. will be helping him. Please keep us all in your prayers.

Something New!

One of our Board members, Alex C., has come up with a wonderful suggestion to help those who either are spearheading a chapter or are thinking of starting one in their area.

Some of you have hesitated and others have grown discouraged because of the cost involved in such a work. It costs money to set up a phone line and to get the word out in your area that there is hope and help for anyone seeking freedom from homosexuality. While the cost is not huge, it is enough to make starting a chapter more than some of you can manage.

We want to help, and this is one way Alex suggested we could do so. As long as we are able to do so, we will give all of you who are spearheading a chapter a 30% discount on all the books and materials on the HA Book Ministry List, including our audio-tapes and CDs, the HA Video or DVD, our workbook, our devotional and books 1 and 2 of Experience, Strength and Hope and the other books recommended. You are free to re-sell these at the regular price thus giving you money with which to pay for the cost of starting up the chapter.

Further, if there are other books that we can get from our supplier at a standard discount, we will make them available to you at the same discount of 30% off. Just call David and ask him about whatever you are interested in.

Those of you who are thinking of starting an HA chapter in your area will be eligible for this offer as soon as you have a phone number for the chapter where people seeking help can reach you.

There is one other thing. David has been calling you and asking for a monthly report on how things are going. Some of you have not returned his called or e-mailed him back. I’m sure it’s just an oversight in most cases, but the Board has been after David to give them more information so they can better know how to help you. So, to be eligible for this discount, you will need to reply when David contacts you. That way he won’t get in trouble with the Board, and the Board will be able to do its job helping you reach out to hurting men and women.

It may be that you can think of other ways we can help you. Please don’t hesitate to let us know what you think we might do. We can’t guarantee that we will be able to do everything everybody wishes, but we’ll try our best to be of assistance.

Experience Strength and Hope
BOOK TWO

We have a new book to help you in your recovery: Experience, Strength, and Hope: Book 2!

Here are wonderful articles written by men and women just like you who share what has helped them in their journey out of homosexuality! Here are great encouragements, practical tips, poignant stories, powerful struggles, great faith, and solid help —all for you—taken from articles that have appeared over the years in the HA News and have helped hundreds who have struggled just like you are struggling and have found real joy and victory and wanted to share what they have found with you.

This material is totally different from Experience, Strength, and Hope: Book 1 so you won’t be duplicating anything you have.

Order yours today. The cost is $20.00 plus postage and handling (sales tax if you live in Pennsylvania) and believe me, it’s a purchase you won’t regret!

New Chapter!
North Houston

We are delighted to announce the opening of a new HA chapter and ask your prayers for the folk who are spearheading these works. The chapter and phone number to call is:

North Houston, TX
(832) 439-3121

If you know anyone near who needs and wants help finding freedom from homosexuality, ask them to call . If they get an answering machine, ask them to leave their first name and phone number and they will be called back. The caller will be discreet. If you think you might be able to help in either of these chapters in any way, please give them a call. They’ll be encouraged to know you care.

A Word to Our Friends in June

July 2008

The summer slump is upon us and we need your help. This is the time when giving goes down for most ministries, and, in the past, we have been no exception. Do keep praying for us and, if you have not been giving to support the ministry, please do so. It is vital for so many and, in these politically correct days, so few want to help.

Please do what you can. God bless you for caring.

New! Chapters for Ladies

Secular studies indicate that there are twice as many men who struggle with homosexuality as there are women struggling with lesbianism. Thus, a lady coming to an HA meeting is likely to find it predominantly male. This can be difficult for a woman who may have difficulty trusting men because she may have suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a male.

For this reason we are delighted to announce two meetings for women:

Reading, PA
For information telephone:
610-779-2500

Munich Germany
For information telephone:
089-307-627-64

Other ladies who have made progress in their own recovery might want to consider starting a women’s chapter in their area. We encourage you to do so as God guides. For information call David E. at 610-779-2500 or write HA, PO Box 7881, Reading, PA, 19603-7881.

Opportunity for Service

A vital part of recovery is becoming less self-centered. That’s what Step 14 is all about.

There are people who have no HA chapter near them (some in prison) who would find great encouragement if someone would be willing to correspond with them.

If you’d be willing to write a fellow-struggler, please let us know, giving your permission to send your name and address to those requesting a pen pal. We’ll let those who ask know of your willingness. We’ll tell them nothing about you and you nothing about them—that’s up to you both. We’ll just put people looking for a pen pal in touch with those willing to be a pen pal. Are you ready to do some Step 14 work?

Many support groups have produced devotional books based on their steps to help their members in their search for freedom.

We have long wished to do the same for our members.
